Job Summary

Job Description

Build a career with a leading Australian brand without leaving Tamworth

Rarely does an opportunity come along in Tamworth that offers the career pathways, development and benefits of a global technology leader while allowing you to stay connected to the community and lifestyle you love.

At Telstra Business Technology Centre Northern NSW, you'll work alongside ambitious, supportive people, help local businesses succeed, and build a career that can grow as far as you want it to.

This isn't just another sales role. It's an opportunity to join an iconic Australian brand, make a genuine impact on local businesses and build a career you'll be proud of.

About the opportunity

As an Account Manager, you’ll work directly with small and medium businesses across Northern NSW.

You’ll take the time to understand what matters to each customer, build trusted relationships and connect them with technology solutions that help solve real business challenges, improve productivity and support future growth.

Every day will be different. One conversation might focus on improving connectivity across multiple sites. The next could explore collaboration, mobility, cybersecurity, cloud or other technology solutions that support the way a business operates.

You’ll be supported to become a genuine trusted adviser, not simply someone who completes a transaction.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local business customers
  • Understand each customer’s business, goals and technology needs
  • Manage and grow a portfolio through proactive customer engagement
  • Identify opportunities that deliver genuine value and better business outcomes
  • Connect customers with the right technology solutions and specialist support
  • Develop new relationships through warm and cold calling
  • Maintain consistent communication, follow-up and customer care
  • Contribute positively to team performance, culture and business growth

Why this opportunity is different

For many people in regional communities, growing a career can mean having to move away from family, friends and the lifestyle they love.

This role offers the chance to build an exciting career right here in Tamworth, while working alongside a team that celebrates success, shares ideas, learns together and genuinely wants to see each other grow.

Your contribution will be visible. You’ll see the impact of your work through:

  • Local businesses becoming more connected, productive and successful
  • Customer relationships that strengthen over time
  • Opportunities you create and develop
  • The growth of our Northern NSW based businesses
  • The difference you make within our team and community

What we offer

This is more than a job. It's an opportunity to build a long-term career with one of Australia's most recognised and trusted brands while enjoying the lifestyle and community that comes with living in regional NSW.

We're committed to helping our people thrive both professionally and personally, with benefits that support every stage of life, including:

  • Performance-related pay and reward opportunities
  • A genuine work-life balance with a 37-hour working week and a full one-hour lunch break each day
  • Access to extensive learning, development and career opportunities across the Telstra network
  • Ongoing coaching, mentoring and support to help you grow your career
  • Industry-leading parental leave benefits to support your family when it matters most
  • Health and wellbeing support through Telstra's MyWellbeing program
  • Additional Telstra leave days and purchased annual leave options
  • Discounts on eligible Telstra products and services
  • A supplied laptop
  • Exposure to emerging technologies including AI, cloud, cybersecurity and digital transformation solutions
  • Most importantly, a collaborative team that works hard, celebrates the wins and genuinely enjoys having fun along the way

About you

You’re ambitious, curious and ready to take ownership of your career. You enjoy working with people, build trust naturally and are motivated by helping customers achieve better outcomes.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience in account management, telecommunications, ICT, business sales, retail sales or customer-facing roles
  • A genuine understanding of small and medium business customers
  • Confidence engaging with existing and prospective customers
  • Experience with proactive calling, relationship building and follow-up
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • A willingness to learn, be coached and continue developing
  • A positive attitude and a desire to contribute to a high-performing team

While relevant experience will help, we’re also interested in people from backgrounds such as customer service, banking, hospitality, retail leadership, business development or small business who can demonstrate strong relationship-building skills, commercial drive and the ability to learn.

What success looks like

Success in this role is about delivering strong commercial results by putting customers first. It means building customer loyalty, creating trusted long-term relationships, identifying valuable opportunities and contributing positively to the continued growth of our customers, our team and our business.

Ready to build something bigger?

If you’re ready to challenge yourself, grow your career and make a genuine difference to businesses throughout Northern NSW, we’d love to hear from you.
