1. The Opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, your work accelerates the energy transition. As an Account Manager for Rolling Stock you help deliver innovative solutions that enhance transportation infrastructure globally. You will manage the end-to-end opportunity lifecycle, from early market and customer engagement through tender preparation, bid submission, negotiation, and contract handover. This role combines front-end sales ownership with deep tendering and bid-execution responsibility, ensuring that opportunities are pursued strategically and converted into competitive, compliant, and profitable contracts. You will serve as the single commercial interface coordinating customers and internal stakeholders, balancing growth, margin, risk, and customer satisfaction across the full sales and bid process.

2. How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Define and implement the sales strategy in accordance with the Dry Type Transformers strategy, with specific and focused plans for the Traction business.

  • Define and maintain a robust channel strategy that supports the Dry Type Transformers business growth across the Rolling Stock market segment.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Process commercial and technical customer requests and tenders.

  • Set up cost calculations and devise complete offers and negotiations with internal and external customers.

  • Hand over projects to project management and prepare production forecasts.

  • Provide support in preparing sales key figures (budget) and participate in trade fairs.

  • Carry out regular customer visits and establish professional relationships with key customers.

  • Take ownership of specific customer cases to ensure efficient customer issue resolution.

  • Responsible for analyzing lost proposals to increase future competitiveness.

3. Your Background

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical.

  • At least 5+ years of experience in sales, tendering, or commercial bid management.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional, deadline-driven environment.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

  • Proficiency in English and Italian is a must.
