The Account Manager – HDS (Hazardous Drug Solutions) is responsible for business development and clinical support in the field of oncology/hazardous drug management. The role combines clinical and commercial expertise to support customers in optimizing oncology workflows and achieving sales objectives.
The position is responsible for developing relationships with healthcare stakeholders, identifying their needs, and providing products and solutions that support the preparation, management, safe administration, and traceability of oncology/hazardous drugs.
The role is accountable for achieving assigned business objectives (Sales & Gross Profit) within the designated geographic area through:
Building partnership relationships with hospitals and key stakeholders in the assigned territory to drive sales of existing products and solutions and introduce new oncology workflow solutions.
Developing market development initiatives for products and services focused on operator safety, contamination risk reduction, process standardization, and drug/device traceability.
Collaborating with agents, distributors, and other commercial resources on key customers and strategic projects, demonstrating the clinical, economic, and technical value of proposed solutions and their associated business models.
Continuously monitoring results achieved by the indirect sales team (agents and distributors) against commercial plans.
Providing active support to stakeholders, in compliance with applicable regulations, throughout the purchasing process.
Job Responsibilities
Drive territory strategy and business growth by analyzing market performance, trends, stakeholders, business opportunities, customer plans, forecasts, and competitive dynamics, while supporting territory planning, forecasting, SFDC analysis, and customer allocation with the Regional Sales Manager.
Lead and support strategic commercial activities by partnering with agents and distributors on key accounts and projects, developing value-based proposals, optimizing commercial offers and pricing strategies, and identifying opportunities to expand BD’s oncology and hazardous drug solutions portfolio.
Manage complex tender processes end-to-end, including needs assessment, technical specification support, participation in tender phases, competitive intelligence gathering, objection handling, contract compliance, customer training, stakeholder engagement, and escalation of critical issues.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships by managing Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), engaging key clinical, economic, and technical stakeholders, attending industry congresses, and promoting BD’s value proposition across public and private healthcare organizations.
Coordinate cross-functional collaboration and business reporting by working with Marketing, Clinical, Oncology, Tender Office, and other support functions, maintaining CRM and reporting systems, monitoring Sales & Gross Profit performance, and providing structured market and competitor insights to leadership.
Act as an oncology workflow and solution expert, understanding the full medication management process, identifying opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, traceability, and operational continuity, supporting implementation projects, training programs, and monitoring new developments, expansions, and service model changes within the territory.
Education and Experience
University Diploma and/or Bachelor's Degree in Scientific Disciplines, Nursing, or equivalent experience.
English proficiency.
Significant commercial experience within biomedical or medical device companies, interacting with both public and private healthcare organizations.
Experience managing complex tenders and developing value-based commercial projects.
Experience within oncology, hospital pharmacy, compounding units (UFA), infusion therapy, preparation/administration devices, or medication management solutions is considered a strong advantage.
Area coverage Lazio, Calabria, Sicilia, Puglia, Abruzzo, Molise, Basilicata, Campania.
The candidate must be a resident of one of these regions
The salary range for this role is 50.000 to 60.000 eur.
