We empower our teams, contribute to our communities, and operate sustainably. Everything we do is built on a commitment to do the right thing for our customers, our people, and our community. Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide the way we do business.

Your greatest work is ahead!

Leidos has an exciting opportunity for an Account Manager (AM) to lead customer engagement and business development activities for Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), based on-site at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. This is a high-visibility role within the Defense Sector Growth Organization, serving as Leidos' primary face to one of the Army's most critical research, development, and acquisition hubs.

The Account Manager will be accountable for developing and maintaining a robust, qualified pipeline of business opportunities across all Leidos sectors, with primary emphasis on Defense, Digital Modernization, and Intelligence portfolios. This individual will cultivate and sustain exceptional customer relationships across APG-based commands and organizations, driving pipeline growth and improved BD outcomes including book-to-bill, revenue, and operating margin.

THE MISSION

The APG Account Manager exists to deepen Leidos' presence, relationships, and pipeline at one of the Army's most strategically important installations. APG is home to a broad and growing portfolio of Army commands with direct alignment to Leidos' core capabilities — from C2 and Cyber to AI/ML, ISR, and Electronic Warfare. This individual will serve as the connective tissue between Leidos business areas and the APG customer community, ensuring Leidos is positioned and competitive on every meaningful opportunity.

THE CHALLENGE:

  • Serve as Leidos' primary relationship owner and BD lead for Aberdeen Proving Ground, including all APG-based Army commands, program executive offices, and subordinate organizations
  • Develop, maintain, and grow a qualified opportunity pipeline across multiple Leidos sectors aligned to APG customer requirements, with primary focus on Defense, Digital Modernization, and Intelligence
  • Lead APG customer engagement planning, including development, coordination, and execution of account plans and call plans; provide detailed follow-up reporting on all engagement activities
  • Proactively identify new business opportunities through market research, customer engagement, competitive analysis, and stakeholder network development
  • Perform market research to qualify new opportunities, including analysis of customer budget, required capabilities, customer preferences, competitive environment, and incumbent strengths and weaknesses
  • Coordinate meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices
  • Develop, organize, and execute capture activities including building Leidos and industry teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans to shape acquisitions
  • Collaborate with Sector and Business Area BD leads, Strategic Account Executives, and line managers to build consensus on specific business pursuits and align to Leidos strategic objectives
  • Participate in pipeline reviews, bid agenda development, opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, win theme and discriminator workshops, and proposal reviews as needed
  • Brief capture status to senior management at specified milestones; conduct after-action reviews to document lessons learned and continuously improve BD approach
  • Actively participate in APG and regional professional associations, community organizations, industry forums, and customer-sponsored events to build Leidos' local brand and expand the business network
  • Interact with all levels of customer organizations and Leidos management, demonstrating sound judgment, high professionalism, and a commitment to Leidos values

WHAT SETS YOU APART:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 15+ years of Leidos-aligned business and/or mission experience; advanced degree a plus
  • Intimate organizational and mission knowledge of key APG-based commands, including: Army Contracting Command (ACC) APG; Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) and subordinate organizations; Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) and subordinate organizations; Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T); and Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER)
  • Proven track record of successful customer engagement, business development, and capture management across multiple APG-based customer organizations and mission areas
  • Prior direct experience working with APG-assigned military and government civilian personnel in a government or industry capacity
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following mission areas aligned to the APG customer base: Command and Control (C2), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Cyberspace and Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (Defensive and Offensive Cyber, Electronic Warfare), Information Operations, Information Technology, Sustainment and Logistics, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Ability to leverage existing customer relationships and personal networks to identify and qualify new opportunities aligned to Leidos capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and business acumen; ability to interact effectively at all levels of customer and corporate organizations
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills; experience preparing and delivering executive-level briefings
  • Flexibility to travel as required, estimated 10–20% per month
  • Active Secret clearance required; must be eligible for Top Secret

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance strongly desired
  • Experience with or involvement in professional associations and community organizations in the Aberdeen and Harford County regional area
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and DoD acquisition processes
  • Experience with corporate customer relations, budget management, and business capture and contracting processes
  • Familiarity with Army and Joint organizations that command, control, or serve as stakeholders to APG-based missions
  • Prior military service or government civilian experience at Aberdeen Proving Ground or in Army acquisition highly preferred
