Key Purpose

The Account Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of small / standard employer schemes, delivering consistent, highquality service while building trusted relationships with brokers and employers.

The role focuses on daytoday account management, query oversight, coordination across operational teams, and proactive client engagement in line with Discovery’s valuebased servicing model. The Junior Account Manager ensures service excellence, retention, and effective execution of agreed account plans while developing toward more complex portfolios.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

  • Manage and service a portfolio of small to standard employer schemes in accordance with the Account Management framework
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for brokers and employers on all servicing-related enquiries
  • Coordinate and manage client queries by working closely with Client Relationship Partners and internal operational teams
  • Ensure the timely and accurate resolution of client queries in line with agreed service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Support scheme renewals, benefit enhancements, and onboarding of new employer schemes
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute standard client reports and regular servicing updates
  • Ensure client data and documentation are accurately maintained across all internal systems
  • Proactively identify, monitor, and escalate potential risks, service issues, or signs of client dissatisfaction
  • Participate in client meetings, scheme reviews, and training sessions as required
  • Build and sustain strong, collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of products, systems, processes, and industry developments

Education and Experience

  • Matric (required)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous)
  • 1–3 years’ experience in:
  • Client servicing, account coordination, or employee benefits administration
  • Exposure to Employee Benefits (Group Risk and/or Umbrella Funds) (advantageous)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience working with internal systems, workflows, or service platforms (advantageous)
