Account Manager

Full Time: 37.5 hrs

Working Hours: 08:30 - 17:00

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000

Are you a customer-focused sales professional with a passion for building lasting relationships and identifying commercial opportunities?

We are looking for an ambitious Account Manager to join our team, working closely with Field Sales Representatives and Sales Managers to drive sales growth across our asphalt and aggregate product portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys developing both new and existing customer relationships.

The Role

As an Account Manager, you will play a key role in supporting sales performance through effective account management, customer engagement, and commercial decision-making. You'll work collaboratively with internal teams and customers to ensure excellent service delivery while achieving sales targets and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of key customer accounts to achieve sales targets and budgets.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers.

  • Work closely with Field Sales Representatives and Sales Managers to maximise sales opportunities.

  • Manage customer enquiries and quotations within agreed deadlines.

  • Maintain and update Area Contract Files.

  • Process and manage cash sales transactions.

  • Support effective credit management procedures.

  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends.

  • Assist in the creation of sales budgets and performance targets.

  • Produce accurate weekly performance reports for management.

  • Provide support across other sales areas when required.

  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Good general standard of education.

  • Previous experience in an account management, sales, or customer-facing commercial role.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Good commercial awareness and customer focus.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems.

  • Ability to produce accurate and concise reports.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of asphalt and aggregate products.

  • Knowledge of Salesnet.

  • Understanding of operational and order processing procedures.

  • Awareness of competitor activity and market dynamics.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.

Training & Systems Experience

Essential knowledge or willingness to learn:

  • SAP

  • Cash Sales Procedures

  • Order Processing

  • Basic Product Knowledge

  • Competition Act Compliance

  • Glennigans

  • Powerplay

Desirable

  • Telephone Selling Skills

  • Sales Training Experience
