Job Description

As an Account Executive, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth by nurturing relationships with small and medium-sized growers in California. You will leverage industry expertise and advanced tools to identify key opportunities, manage the sales cycle, and deliver tailored solutions to our customers. This is a hunter-style role focused on generating new business, opening new accounts, and building a pipeline from the ground up. The ideal candidate thrives on prospecting, cold outreach, and building trust with growers and agricultural operators. This role requires a combination of strategic outreach, in-depth knowledge of agronomic practices, and strong communication skills to successfully manage existing relationships while aggressively expanding the company’s customer base.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with growers in California
  • Leverage advanced tools and techniques to generate high-quality opportunities
  • Own a territory mindset by consistently identifying and opening new accounts
  • Drive the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align sales strategies with broader marketing and customer success initiatives

Key Responsibilities:

  • Territory Ownership: Develop and execute a plan to grow your California territory by generating new business opportunities.
  • Prospecting & Lead Generation: Identify and engage small and medium-sized growers through high-volume, multi-channel outreach (calls, emails, LinkedIn, etc.). Execute high-volume cold calling and outbound prospecting activity daily to generate new leads and consistently build a robust pipeline.
  • Pipeline Development: Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities from the ground up.
  • Sales Pipeline Management: Manage the sales process from initial contact through close, ensuring a consistent and proactive approach to customer engagement.
  • Account Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers, ensuring customer satisfaction and growth.
  • Full Sales Cycle Execution: Manage discovery, demos, proposals, and closing with minimal oversight.
  • Customer Engagement: Meet with growers (including in-field when applicable) to understand operational challenges and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Stay informed on market conditions and trends within the agriculture sector to identify new opportunities and challenges.
  • Reporting & CRM Management: Track and report all sales activities using Salesforce, ensuring accurate documentation of the sales process.
  • Event Participation: Attend relevant trade shows, conferences, and industry events to generate leads and build the brand within the segment.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of sales experience, preferably in agriculture or technology sectors
  • Demonstrated hunter mentality with strong prospecting and pipeline generation skills
  • Comfortable conducting high-volume cold calls and outbound outreach
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage a full sales cycle independently
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
  • Knowledge of agronomic practices (preferred)
  • Highly self-motivated with an entrepreneurial, results-driven mindset
  • Strong understanding of growers’ needs and challenges, particularly in California
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Must reside in California to effectively conduct regular in-person meetings with growers across the territory

Benefits Package:

  • Competitive salary with performance-based commission.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Flexible work environment with the potential for remote work.
