Job Description

The Account Executive, reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Sales, is responsible for growing and maintaining revenues for the assigned high value and strategic customers. This is accomplished by building and managing customer relationships, selling to the clients' needs for all telecommunications (voice, data, internet, video) products and services marketed by Northwestel and advocating on the customer’s behalf throughout Northwestel’s organization.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Develop assigned high value and strategic customers to grow and maintain revenues through providing telecommunications solutions, negotiating contracts and closing deals to meet sales targets with a high level of day-to-day customer service.
  • Lead the development of telecommunications solutions and proposals for customers that link their business drivers and goals to new telecommunications opportunities. Develop and maintain Strategic Account Plans for the assigned accounts. Implement and manage any sales initiatives related to these accounts.
  • Provide direction to, advocate on the customer’s behalf with and lead the introduction to the customer service interfaces. For example Account Architects, Sales Assistants and Business Care Centre.
  • Maintain and monitor annual and ongoing forecasting tools for revenues and services. Annually qualify accounts to ensure they warrant consideration for high value customer and Account Executive treatment.
  • Input and monitor customer pipeline information used to track new and upcoming revenue opportunities.
  • Pursue new revenue for specific territories or verticals where applicable, e.g., Oil and Gas, Mining, etc.
  • Participation in industry trade shows and associations.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work is required.
  • 9. Travel by plane or car at least one week per month may be required, depending on the location of the position.
  • Participate fully in our organizational health and safety programs, adhering to all safe work practices and procedures and staying focused on continuous improvement. In addition, ensuring all Accident Prevention Program (APP’s) training, all Code of Business Conduct (CoBC) training, and all other Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training are completed on time.
  • Timely completion of all administrative tasks including, but not limited to time reporting, expense reporting and submission of corporate card statements.

Knowledge And Skills Required

  • Business degree with a major in marketing/sales or technology (or an equivalent combination of experience and/or credentials).
  • Three to five years of account sales/marketing experience, preferably in Telecommunications, IT or Managed Services with documented results.
  • Strong sales, interpersonal and relationship building, communication (written and oral), multimedia presentation and analytical skills.
  • Ongoing desire to maintain these competencies in a highly technical and rapidly evolving telecommunications market.
  • Industry knowledge of government and Aboriginal self-government, resources, transportation and tourism are beneficial.
  • As part of the recruitment process for this position, candidates may be required to take pre-employment tests and/or complete work simulation exercise to assess job fit.
