Job

The Account Director is a senior client services lead responsible for the direction and execution of client programs across key accounts. This individual plays a critical role in building strong client partnerships, ensuring high-quality delivery, and contributing to account stability and growth.

This role blends strong executional leadership with developing strategic capability. The Account Director is expected to contribute to strategic thinking, identify opportunities, and support account growth, while partnering with senior leadership to shape long-term direction.

They serve as a key connector between clients and internal teams, ensuring seamless delivery, strong collaboration, and consistently high standards.

Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a key point of contact for assigned accounts, supporting overall client relationship health

  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders through responsiveness, reliability, and strong communication

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of client business, Medical Affairs objectives, and evolving needs

  • Proactively identify risks or challenges and partner with senior team members to resolve them effectively

  • Contribute to client satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnership growth

Strategic Contribution & Value Creation

  • Contribute to the development of client strategic plans, bringing insights and perspective to discussions

  • Translate client objectives into well-structured programs and deliverables, with support from senior leadership

  • Identify opportunities, gaps, or emerging needs within accounts and escalate or shape into potential solutions

  • Begin to act as a thought partner to clients, growing confidence in providing strategic recommendations over time

  • Support development of innovative programs and content aligned to Medical Affairs goals

Delivery Excellence & Account Management

  • Lead day-to-day execution of the account plan, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at high quality

  • Scope projects and support SOW development, ensuring alignment to client expectations

  • Partner closely with Medical, Strategy, Creative, and Project Management teams to ensure seamless execution

  • Maintain oversight of multiple projects, ensuring consistency and quality across deliverables

  • Participate in post-project reviews to identify successes and areas for improvement

Financial & Operational Management

  • Support financial management of accounts, including forecasting, tracking, and budget oversight

  • Ensure projects are delivered within scope and contribute to overall account profitability

  • Help identify and address account risks, including scope creep or delivery challenges

  • Contribute to achieving revenue targets through strong account management

Growth & Business Development

  • Contribute to organic growth by identifying incremental opportunities within existing accounts

  • Support development of proposals, scopes, and pitch materials

  • Participate in client presentations and new business opportunities, as appropriate

  • Build internal awareness of account opportunities and help connect clients to broader Lucid capabilities

People & Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor junior team members, providing guidance, feedback, and development support

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team environment

  • Help ensure teams are appropriately resourced and set up for success

  • Lead by example in setting standards for quality and ways of working

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong partnerships across internal functions (Medical, Strategy, Creative, Operations, Analytics)

  • Act as a connector across teams, ensuring alignment between client needs and delivery

  • Support collaboration with global teams where relevant to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing

Qualifications

Essential:

  • 5+ years of experience in medical communications or healthcare agency environment

  • Experience managing projects and contributing to client relationships

  • Exposure to Medical Affairs (e.g., scientific communications, congress activity, medical education, KOL engagement)

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities

  • Experience mentoring or supporting development of junior team members

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience contributing to strategic planning or program development

  • Exposure to account growth or business development activities

  • Experience presenting to clients or supporting pitches
