SUMMARY
The Accounting Clerk Fixed Assets, Senior performs a wide variety of accounting and clerical duties, primarily related to the accurate and timely processing of stewardship and capital fixed assets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains account records for all District stewardship and capital fixed assets in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB 34).
- Verifies accuracy of purchase orders and receiving documents and updates fixed asset information within the financial system.
- Creates new stewardship and capital assets by importing documentation from the financial system. Creates new stewardship and capital assets in financial system for assets received through donations.
- Conducts annual physical inventories and reconciles inventory listing to existing assets.
- Coordinates bar coding and location verification of assets through the District MMC Warehouse and campus/sites.
- Maintains and updates records for property transfers and disposals; and property losses due to theft/damage.
- Cross-trains existing staff and new incoming employees.
- Assists with year-end annual depreciation, and reconciling of fixed assets for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), and Annual Financial Audit.
- Maintains a variety of fiscal information, records, and documentation.
- Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; Associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration or related field is preferred; AND two years of capital asset or property asset management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Possess a valid Arizona State Driver's License.

- Ability to comply with established GASB accounting processes and procedures.
- Skill in managing accounts and processing assets.
- Skill in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to type and enter data with speed and accuracy.
- Skill in researching and compiling data for reports, presentations, and technical documents.
- Ability to plan and schedule inventory procedures and activities.
- Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision.
- Skill in writing professional reports and correspondence from brief instructions.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed in a standard office environment and throughout campuses and District facilities, both indoors and outdoors.
- Work may require exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
- Physical ability to perform all of the essential functions (e.g. stand, turn, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, lift, push, pull, and climb ladders).
- May be required to lift objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
