Job Description

We are looking for an Account Clerk to maintain agency financial records, process financial transactions, manage accounts, and support budget and purchasing activities. This position will be Full-Time and Onsite in Indianapolis, Indiana. With employees expected to work onsite 5 days per week.

Only work authorizations that will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain official agency financial records and ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Receive, deposit, distribute, and account for monies, securities, and other valuables
  • Prepare, process, and audit financial transactions, vouchers, payments, encumbrances, and expenditures
  • Authorize payments and prepare vouchers for management approval
  • Assist in preparation, monitoring, and control of agency budgets
  • Perform purchasing functions and maintain inventory controls
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Reconcile accounts and negotiate settlement of outstanding accounts
  • Review requisitions for quality, quantity, and pricing compliance
  • Calculate profit and loss statements and perform financial analyses and calculations
  • Operate office equipment and coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Support lease administration, auctions, sales, and bid receipt activities
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and records
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What You'll Need

Required:

  • 5+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or account clerk experience
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping, auditing, contracts, and contracting procedures
  • Experience maintaining and reconciling financial records
  • Experience processing payments, vouchers, expenditures, and financial transactions
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and perform mathematical calculations accurately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while demonstrating professionalism and diplomacy
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment and business software
  • Ability to accurately handle money and items of value and be eligible to be bonded

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting government, public sector, or agency financial operations
  • Experience with budgeting and inventory control processes
  • Experience reviewing procurement documentation and purchase requisitions
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience preparing quarterly and annual financial reports

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
  • Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$18.76 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
