Join our team as an ATIPP Specialist and play a key role in supporting the rights of individuals to access information held by WCB and support the protection of privacy in compliance with applicable access to information and privacy legislation. Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, you’ll be an integral part of the ATIPP Team, delivering services to support the office and compliance with legislation effectively and efficiently.

Your responsibilities:

• Process requests received in accordance with the Access to Information Act and the Protection of Privacy Act.
• Provide advice and recommendations and make decisions on access to information and privacy matters based on knowledge of legislation, OIPC orders, case law, policy, and best practices.
• Develop policies, procedures, and educational modules.
• Review privacy intake questionnaires to determine whether a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) is required.
• Review, contribute to, or develop Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for projects, systems, and initiatives, and participate in project meetings as needed.
• Review research proposals involving personal information and provide feedback and recommendations to protect privacy.
• Update the Personal Information Banks (PIBs) directory as needed.
• Develop and maintain reports and metrics to monitor and communicate ATIPP Office activities, performance, and workload.
• Conduct or support investigations into privacy incidents, breaches, and complaints, including root cause analysis and the identification and implementation of corrective and remedial actions.
• Coordinate and prepare responses, or assist in preparing responses, to reviews, investigations, and inquiries conducted by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC).
• Perform other related duties as required.

Your experience and skills:

• Professional privacy certification (e.g. IAPP from the University of Alberta, CIPP/C) or equivalent demonstrated experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• In-depth knowledge of Alberta's ATIA, POPA, FOIP and related regulations.
• Experience in processing ATIA and POPA requests.
• Ability to respect and maintain the privacy and confidentiality of individuals and the information accessed while performing the duties of the role.
• Experience assisting with the development and maintenance of a privacy management program, including the creation of policies, procedures, tools, and other supporting documentation, is considered an asset.
• Experience developing and delivering privacy training and awareness programs, including the creation of supporting materials and resources.
• Knowledge of records management principles is an asset.
• Experience in writing and/or reviewing PIAs is an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and carefully with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions on sensitive or time-sensitive issues, and demonstrate sound judgement.
• Skilled in working effectively with clients and partners and building trusted relationships.
• Strong organizational, time management and adaptability skills to manage changing priorities.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and other electronic applications and systems, with an aptitude for learning new software as required.

Salary: $85,182 to $100,174 per annum (Salary Grade 11)

Successful candidates must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person from our Edmonton downtown office as required. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
