Summary

Are you interested in joining a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF) while providing behavioral health assessment, care coordination, crisis intervention, and connection to needed services? Prince William County Community Services is seeking a committed and experienced mental health professional to serve as the Service Members, Veterans, and Families (SMVF) Coordinator/ Clinical Services Case Worker within the ACCESS team. ACCESS serves as the point of entry for individuals seeking mental health and substance use services through Community Services and utilizes the Same Day ACCESS (SDA) model to provide timely screenings, assessments, and connection to appropriate services. Successful candidate will have experience providing services to adults and veterans diagnosed with a mental illness, substance use disorder or co-occurring disorders, and experience formulating initial diagnosis, and coordinating referrals for services.

About This Role:

You will provide short-term counseling, comprehensive behavioral health assessments and screenings, including the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), Serious Mental Illness (SMI) screening, ASAM and WHODAS with service members, veterans, and their families seeking mental health and/or substance use services. You will provide crisis intervention for individuals experiencing acute behavioral health needs, including those at high risk for suicide or homicide, and develop and implement appropriate risk-management and safety plans. You will provide ongoing care coordination and case management services to assigned SMVF individuals. You will provide consultation and technical assistance to families, professionals, and community agencies to facilitate access to appropriate resources and continuity of care.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, or related behavioral science field.

Currently possess LPC or LCSW, or ability to obtain LPC or LCSW license in the Commonwealth of Virginia within four years of hire.

1 year of experience in the delivery of human services to adults and veterans in a Mental Health, Substance Abuse, or Emergency Services outpatient program.

Preferences:

Experience with formulating diagnoses for clients with acute, chronic, severe mental illness

Experience evaluating risk and implementing crisis management plans.

Experience collaborating with internal and external partners and across systems.

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver's license;

Must pass DMV record check;

Must pass TB test;

Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a fingerprint-based national criminal history record check.

Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglect maintained by the Department of Social Services.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with occasional nights/weekends for program presentations and meetings. Occasional overnight travel required.

Starting Salary Range: $76,069.50 - $104,676.00
