North Idaho College is seeking a student-centered and compassionate Access Specialist to help create an inclusive and accessible learning environment for students with disabilities. In this role, you will work directly with students to assess barriers, facilitate the interactive process, determine reasonable accommodations, and connect students with resources and support services that promote academic success and equitable access.
The Access Specialist collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and campus partners to implement accommodations across classroom, lab, clinical, online, and experiential learning environments while maintaining essential course requirements and institutional standards. This position also supports students in developing self-advocacy skills, navigating disability-related challenges, and accessing assistive technology and accessibility tools.
We are looking for a professional with strong knowledge of disability access laws and higher education accessibility practices, including the ADA, ADAAA, Section 504, FERPA, and related regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; the ability to interpret disability documentation; and the ability to work effectively with students with a wide range of disabilities and medical conditions. Experience using assistive technology, case management systems, Microsoft Office applications, and presentation or outreach skills will support success in this role.
If you are passionate about access, inclusion, and supporting student success in a collaborative community college environment, we encourage you to apply.
