Job Description

The Central Scheduling Access Care Representative (ACR) at United Health Services (UHS) helps patients take the next step in their care by making scheduling, registration, and insurance verification as smooth as possible. In this role, every conversation matters—whether answering questions, gathering information, or connecting patients with the right services. By working closely with clinical and administrative teams, the Central Scheduling ACR supports a positive patient experience, timely access to care, and accurate front-end revenue cycle processes.

Primary Department, Division, or Unit:

Patient Registration/Access Care, UHS Wilson Medical Center

Work Shift and Schedule:

This is a per diem position, which means you will work on an as needed, agreed upon basis. Working hours will be assigned by your manager.

Compensation Range:

$17.05 - $22.17 per hour, depending on experience

This position is not eligible for benefits.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Perform patient registration, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification to support timely access to care and accurate account setup
  • Deliver courteous, professional service to patients and families through phone, electronic, and in‑person interactions
  • Collect, review, and enter complete and accurate demographic and insurance information to support accurate billing and account processing
  • Respond to patient questions and provides appropriate information while protecting privacy and confidentiality
  • Monitor patient wait times and collaborate with team members to communicate delays and improve patient flow

Scope and Impact:

  • Contribute directly to patient experience, access to services, and front‑end revenue cycle accuracy
  • Exercise judgment within established procedures when addressing scheduling, registration, and insurance‑related issues
  • Work collaboratively with peers and leaders to resolve issues that affect service quality and operational efficiency
  • Support operational and departmental needs through occasional travel between organizational locations and, when required, operation of a system-owned vehicle; maintain eligibility to meet organizational driving requirements when such travel is necessary

Compliance and Professional:

  • Adhere to HIPAA and organizational privacy standards when handling patient information
  • Follow regulatory, billing, and financial compliance requirements applicable to access and registration activities
  • Complete required training, competencies, and performance improvement activities within established timeframes
  • Work and communicate with a respectful, problem-solving approach
  • Safeguard sensitive data by following established security policies and procedures, using systems responsibly, and promptly reporting potential security incidents, risks, or policy violations
  • As applicable to your role, support cybersecurity and data protection requirements throughout the supplier lifecycle by coordinating vendor risk assessments, monitoring third-party compliance, and promptly reporting identified supply chain or cybersecurity risks

Additional Expectations:

  • Maintain awareness of supplies and coordinate restocking to support uninterrupted operations

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to meet department and organizational needs

Position Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of customer/patient-facing experience directly interacting and communicating with the public

Preferred:

  • NAHAM Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification
  • Driver License
  • Up to 1 year of direct experience performing the exact or very similar duties required by the job within the same role or function
  • Up to 1 year of technical/systems experience using specialized tools, software, or equipment required for the role
  • Up to 1 year of healthcare experience working in the healthcare industry in any job function
