
Position Details
Housed within the Academic Success Center (ASC), Peer Support at The University of Tampa has an opening for an Academic Program Specialist. This position will work closely with the Director and Peer Support team to coordinate peer tutoring programs. This position will report to the Director of Peer Support.
Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Director to manage the daily oversight of tutoring programs and student staff.
• Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate peer support staff.
• Collaborate with Peer Support staff to assessment programs, track utilization of services, and implement new initiatives.
• Assist and track student staff through College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification guidelines.
• Maintain webpages, Canvas site and other platforms associated with Peer Support programs.
• Teach ASK-100 course(s): study skills course that assists students in enhancing college success skills, setting goals, and developing personal responsibility for their academic experiences.
• Represent Academic Success Center team at University events.
• Participate in outreach initiatives to targeted student populations in collaboration with Center staff and campus partners.
• Assist with appointments, walk-ins, presentations, Admissions events, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Qualifications
1. Master's degree in an academic discipline, higher education, or related field from a regionally accredited university.
2. 2+ years working in an academic support capacity in higher education, preferably in a learning center, tutoring or advising functions.
3. Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn FERPA, ADA, and other relevant federal laws.
4. Experience supervising student employees or professional staff.
5. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required
