Job Description

The Maritime Business Administration Department (MARA) in the College of Marine Sciences & Maritime Studies at Texas A&M University located on the Galveston Campus invites applications for up to 5 full-time Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) and/or Temporary/Part-Time (Non-Tenure) positions at the (Visiting) Instructional Assistant Professor, (Visiting) Instructional Associate Professor, (Visiting) Instructional Professor, (Visiting) Assistant Professor of the Practice, (Visiting) Associate Professor of the Practice, or (Visiting) Professor of the Practice, (Visiting) Lecturer, (Visiting) Senior Lecturer, or (Visiting) Principal Lecturer level with the titles and ranks depending on background, qualifications, and experience with a 4.5-month or 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning in fall 2026 or spring 2027.

Successful applicants will be responsible for the organization, delivery, evaluation and assessment of accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, law, economics, business analytics, strategic management, cybersecurity, logistics and/or supply chain management courses and student outcomes associated with those courses. Successful applicants will also advise and mentor students; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; and serve the profession.

Academic Professional Track (APT) faculty are valued members of the professorial community at the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies. APT faculty work under nine-month contracts, with the expectation of renewal dependent upon effective undergraduate and/or graduate teaching and service to the College, University, and/or professional community. APT contracts offer multi-year appointments after promotion, and a promotion ladder is available for those who choose teaching as their career.

The Maritime Business Administration Department offers unique programs in Maritime Business at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our graduates are provided with a strong foundation in key areas of accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, law, economics, business analytics, strategic management, and supply chain management. These courses lay the foundation for more advanced courses in international trade, inland waterways management, brokerage and chartering, organizational behavior, transportation economics, port and terminal management, and other areas related to the maritime industry. Qualifications

Applicants must have expertise related to accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, law, economics, business analytics, strategic management, cybersecurity, logistics, supply chain management, international trade, inland waterways management, brokerage & chartering, marine risk & insurance, project management, organizational behavior, transportation economics, and/or port and terminal management.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, law, economics, business analytics, strategic management, cybersecurity, logistics, supply chain management, international trade, inland waterways management, brokerage & chartering, marine risk & insurance, project management, organizational behavior, transportation economics, and/or port and terminal management or a closely related discipline in the field in which the faculty member will teach or
  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, law, economics, business analytics, strategic management, cybersecurity, logistics, supply chain management, international trade, inland waterways management, brokerage & chartering, marine risk & insurance, project management, organizational behavior, transportation economics, and/or port and terminal management or a closely related discipline in the field in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college level or an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree.
  • Significant teaching experience at the college level in the field or a related field, and/or
  • An extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting.
