Grade: Professional 307Pay Range: $66,300.00 - $99,500.00The Academic Content Coach serves as a subject matter expert in core academic areas (arithmetic, writing, and critical thinking) and provides in-depth instruction and guidance to WGU students. The Academic Content Coach uses technology to interacts with students in both group and one-on-one settings. This role develops workshops and programming that is responsive to learner needs by varying the type, length, method, and intensity of academic coaching to match learner strengths and goals. The Academic Content Coach collaborates with students’ instructional and program faculty to ensure continuity and quality of support.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides academic coaching to students in need of additional, in-depth guidance, instruction, and direction in core academic areas.
Plans, designs, and conducts academic content coaching workshops and programming that meet unique student needs as well as group coaching.
Trains the Academic Support team on current and new coaching approaches and methodologies.
Documents student interactions and coaching as required by department practices.
Collects data on coaching program participation; analyzes program effectiveness; prepares reports and resents recommendations to enhance and improve the academic coaching programs to leadership.
Maintains expert level knowledge in academic content areas.
Develops training on best practices in academic content support that can be shared with faculty throughout the university.
Fosters student learning through innovative, effective coaching and teaching practices.
Offers timely outreach and academic coaching to students, including meeting service level agreements as outlined by department requirements.
Uses technology-based teaching and communication platforms to help students develop needed competencies.
Collaborates with other professionals within the university to promote a positive, student-obsessed atmosphere.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to use both direct and indirect coaching techniques to support student learning
Ability to customize content support for learners with a variety of needs and educational backgrounds
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (or similar) applications, virtual instructional platforms, and student management systems

This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year). Additional travel may include conferences, visits to company locations, and other business-related events as needed. Additional travel may be assigned as needed to support business requirements.
