Job Description

SDU Education in Sønderborg has two vacant positions as academic advisors from 15 June 2026. The positions are affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and are offered to bachelor students enrolled in a social science programme at SDU Sønderborg: Business Administration or European Studies.

Main Responsibilities

As an academic advisor you will primarily be involved in:

  • Providing individual study guidance in collaboration with SDU Education to bachelor students at SDU Sønderborg, including counseling on study plans, exchange opportunities and internships
  • Informing prospective students about the programmes and student life at SDU Sønderborg
  • Organizing and conducting information meetings on electives, studying abroad, examinations or choice of master’s programme
  • Assisting during introduction days for new students in August
  • Supporting the integration of new students, especially during the 1st and 2nd semesters
  • Helping facilitate study groups for first-semester students
  • Conducting proactive counseling sessions with students who are behind in their ECTS credits

We expect you to:

  • Demonstrate engagement, attendance and empathy
  • Motivate and support your fellow students
  • Make yourself acquainted with programme structures, curricula, and course descriptions
  • Collaborate with colleagues at SDU Sønderborg
  • Be able to distinguish your role as an advisor from being a friend or fellow student
  • Possess situational awareness and intercultural understanding

Requirements

  • You must be fluent in spoken and written English, Danish is an advantage but not required
  • You must be enrolled in a social science bachelor programme in Sønderborg
  • The position is limited to one year, with an average of 6 hours per week (hours may vary from week to week)

Please note, the selected candidate as Student Assistant or Academic Supervisor must be enrolled as student at SDU.


Employment shall take place in accordance with the framework agreement between the Ministry of Finance and SUL.
