The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga delivers registrarial services to support U of T Mississauga's academic goals and U of T priorities in the areas of student information, interpretation of policies, and innovation of registrarial interactions. Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Academic Advising Services, the Academic Advisor provides academic advising services to undergraduate students, assisting them in making decisions affecting their academic progress at U of T Mississauga from enrolment through graduation. Keeping within the goals and objectives of the Office of the Registrar, the Advisor provides clear, concise, and informative communications regarding student enrolment and registration policies and procedures, and applies proactive, relevant strategies that focus on retention and graduation.
The Academic Advisor assists students with a wide range of academic issues and concerns, including interpretation of University requirements, policies and procedures, selection of courses and programs and meeting degree requirements. The Advisor directs students requiring specialized services to other student service areas such as Accessibility Services, the International Education Centre, Health and Counselling, Career Centre, the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre, etc. The work of the Advisor is accomplished through individual in-person, virtual and electronic interactions as well as group advising sessions and seminars.
The Academic Advisor works as a collaborative member of the academic advising team, assisting with balancing the advising work schedule and supporting the work of the team and the Office of the Registrar as a whole. The Advisor contributes to the development of enhanced services for students to promote retention and improve the overall student experience.
