The University of Arizona's College of Science invites you to apply for the role of Academic Advisor II. The Academic Advisor plays a vital role in maximizing undergraduate student retention and persistence by building formative relationships with students to encourage engagement with opportunities to develop personally and professionally.
This position is built for professionals who are interested in joining a Strategic Advising Team and receiving comprehensive cross-training to develop expertise across a family of majors (e.g., Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical & Computational Sciences, etc.). These student-centered, collaborative Academic Advisors will provide high-quality advising across departments while maintaining consistency with college-wide advising standards and departmental expectations.
As members of a collaborative college-wide advising community, these advisors help ensure students receive accurate, timely, and coordinated support regardless of major, while increasing the College's ability to adapt to growth and evolving student needs.
The position reports centrally to the College but has strong connections to the departments it serves. The College of Science brings together students with a wide range of interests, from environmental science to medicine and technology, who are driven by curiosity and discovery. Students learn from internationally recognized faculty who lead groundbreaking research and contribute to advancements in scientific knowledge and teaching practices. Through hands-on research opportunities and mentorship, students develop creative solutions to complex global challenges while working within a collaborative academic environment. The college’s mission emphasizes research excellence, interdisciplinary learning, community outreach, and the preparation of future scientists across core scientific disciplines.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work assignment in consultation with the supervisor.

Open Date 8/7/2026 Open Until Filled Yes Documents Needed to Apply Resume and Cover Letter Special Instructions to Applicant Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
