Job Description

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $44,200 - Midpoint: $55,300 (Salaried E6)

Department/Organization: 223101 - Dean's Office-Nursing

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

The Academic Advisor I provides guidance to University students on academic progress, courses, University resources, etc. Identifies courses to be completed in upcoming semesters. Explains University and College policies. May teach compass course as needed.

Additional Department Summary: The Academic Advisor meets with undergraduate nursing students regarding their academic needs. Identifies students with significant financial need and challenges, and communicate needs to scholarship administrators. Plans and implements group advising for lower division nursing students each semester in collaboration with the director of the Undergraduate Program. Works with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher.

Skills and Knowledge: Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills. Effective computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database management, etc.). Good planning, coordinating, organizing, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures.
