Job Description

The Academic Advisor will be responsible for managing a caseload of undergraduate business majors across nine concentrations. This role supports students in understanding degree requirements, developing academic plans, and progressing toward timely graduation. The advisor will also assist with course selection, petitions, overrides, and appeals, while serving as a key resource for new, transfer, and prospective students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely academic advisement
  • Counsel students on academic challenges and goal setting
  • Collaborate with academic departments and student support services
  • Refer students to appropriate campus resources
  • Participate in orientations, recruitment, and advising events

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to work with various populations and maintain student confidentiality
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software
  • Ability to think critically and provide proactive, student-centered advising

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in a higher education setting working with students’ academic needs, providing advising services, and coordinating support services; or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three to five years of experience as an academic advisor in a university.
