
The Academic Advisor advises and supports College of Engineering undergraduate students with all aspects of course planning and registration from Orientation through completion of degree requirements at the time of degree conferral. Responsibilities include facilitating registration assistance, providing guidance on add/drop and withdrawal processes, and supporting students through major exploration. The advisor maintains accurate and up-to-date student academic records and facilitates academic support workshops to promote student success. This role also involves monitoring student academic progress and providing proactive support and outreach, as well as serving as a referral resource for students experiencing academic or personal challenges by connecting them to appropriate campus support services. The advisor additionally assists with the planning and execution of various college events and programs.
The Academic Advisor serves as a departmental liaison and advisor to upper-level students, underrepresented populations, and pathway and incoming transfer students. This includes reviewing academic records to evaluate progress toward and completion of degree requirements, as well as providing interpretation of college and university policies and procedures to students. The advisor also plays a key role in supporting college and university retention initiatives through proactive advising interventions and data-informed outreach.
