Job Description

Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre requires a permanent, full-time, 12-month Academic Advisor. The position can be located at our Moose Jaw or Kenaston campus.


Academic Advisors work with students and staff in an online environment providing support or direction with academic requirements for graduation, transition planning into high school courses, and post-secondary course or program planning.

Sask DLC is a Treasury Board Crown Corporation, created to deliver high-quality and equitable online learning programs to students across the province. Sask DLC’s head office is located in Kenaston, with an administrative office in Regina, and regional campuses located in Estevan, Kenaston, La Ronge, Moose Jaw, Meadow Lake, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current and Yorkton.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Contacting and enrolling full-time online students into courses, maintaining student graduation plan data to meet Ministry of Education requirements as well as incorporate courses for admission requirements to post -secondary programs;
  • Reviewing transcripts and creating student graduation plans, including monitoring and adjusting student plans throughout the year as needed;
  • Maintaining accurate data in our DLCgo system as well as supporting Excel spreadsheets that track student’s graduation status;
  • Maintaining up-to date information with Ministry of Education changes regarding graduation requirements;
  • Having knowledge and understanding of courses offered and different programs (regular, French immersion, Adult 12 and graduated students) and requirements;
  • Having the ability to navigate post-secondary websites to assist students in course planning;
  • Updating student graduation plans in the summer after final courses are completed and transcripts are updated;
  • Working with Student Support Teachers to assist in Grade 9 -10 Transition Plans;
  • Updating parents and students of new programs available to students;
  • Providing assistance to students as needed during the summer to update graduation plans once courses are completed, including Summer School.

  • Willingness to learn new skills and strategies to effectively support the needs of students.

Education and Experience

  • Certificate in Office Administration or related discipline or combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three years of experience providing administrative support in a large and fast paced business of public education office environment.

Employment Conditions

  • Office environment/setting.

  • Typical core office hours (800 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with 30 minute lunch) Monday to Friday.

What We Offer:

Salary (Level 5 $26.94/hr to $30.01/hr) and benefits for the position will be in accordance with CUPE 5544 Collective Agreement September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2027.

Saskatchewan Distance Learning Center (Sask DLC) is the provincial online provider for Kindergarten to Grade 12 online learning. We support K-12 students learning online full-time, high school students taking one or more online courses within their local school or adult learners looking to upgrade or earn their Grade 12. We offer more than 150 high school courses providing students with choice in their learning to explore interests and potential career paths, with unique electives like power engineering, tourism, autobody, forensic science, animation and IT fundamentals.

Grades 10-12

High school students can choose to study online full-time from home, or take one or more online courses at their local school. Sask DLC collaborates with schools across the province to offer high school courses that will fit class schedules and graduation plans. Kindergarten to Grade 9
