Job Description

Job Location: Wake Forest, NC 27587
Position Type: Part Time
The Academic Advisor assists the Academic Advising Team and the Academic Advising Coordinator in serving Southeastern students through Academic Advising and Coaching. The advisor assists students with degree planning to ensure our students successfully complete their program at Southeastern and Judson in a timely manner.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assist in the course registration process at Southeastern Seminary and Judson College.
- Advise students on academic plans, degree planning, course selection, and changing degree.
- Work to position students to meet requirements for graduation within appropriate periods of time while preparing them to meet future goals.
- Provide academic information to faculty, students, and other administrative offices as requested.
- Serve as contact for general emails and phone calls.
- Keep records of student interactions.
- Connect students with other resources, as needed (e.g., Writing Center, Library, etc.).
- Work alongside and learn from student resources and services (e.g., Writing Center, Library, etc.).
- Additional tasks to assist the Office of Academic Administration.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
- Team Player
- Knowledge of the degree programs, course scheduling, and course offerings at Southeastern.
- Basic knowledge of the admissions process and how this relates to incoming and prospective students.
- Ability to learn student information management systems (Colleague, Slate, etc.)
- Ability to prioritize tasks and organize an efficient system of completing tasks
- Ability to communicate with Faculty and Students on issues relevant to Academic Advising

Qualifications

Qualifications
- This position is restricted to current SEBTS students or spouses of SEBTS students.
- Preference will be given to students who have already completed a degree at Southeastern, or have been a student at Southeastern for at least two years.
- Track record of academic success and accomplishment.
- Ability to work up to 29 hours a week.
