Our Facilities Maintenance team provide planned and responsive maintenance, emergency repairs, disability modification upgrades, vacant restorations and property & condition assessment surveys throughout New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania.

The Opportunity:

RTC is seeking a dedicated and community-focused Aboriginal Liaison Officer to strengthen engagement with Aboriginal Business Entities (ABE's) and drive meaningful reconciliation outcomes across our Facilities Maintenance operations in South Australia.

This role plays a key part in increasing Aboriginal business participation, supporting sustainable employment pathways, and leading the implementation of RTC’s Reconciliation Action Plan. You will work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, clients, and Aboriginal communities to ensure culturally respectful, inclusive, and commercially successful partnerships.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal businesses and community stakeholders.
  • Support increased participation of ABEs across RTC South Australian operations.
  • Lead and report on RTC’s Reconciliation Action Plan initiatives.
  • Promote cultural awareness and inclusive practices across the organisation.
  • Provide strategic advice to leadership on Indigenous engagement and participation.

Standard working weeks are 40 hours, Monday to Friday, with regular travel throughout regional SA including remote communities.

This role can be based from our Port Augusta, Whyalla or Port Lincoln office based on successful candidate location.

About You:

The successful candidate will be a confident communicator with demonstrated experience building trusted relationships at all levels and can work collaboratively across teams while remaining self-directed and proactive in delivering outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Drivers Licence
  • OHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • National Police Check
  • Successful completion of a medical check, including Alcohol and other Drugs screening.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and businesses.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance or residential construction industry and processes will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in reporting, coordination, and program delivery.
  • Cultural competency and demonstrated commitment to reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously without direction.
