What you will do:
As an Alcohol Beverage Licensing (ABL) Supervisor, you will provide leadership, supervision, and management in the day-to-day operations of the ABL section to help responsibly administer the alcohol laws and regulations of South Carolina.
Primary job duties include:
- Planning, supervising, and monitoring the job tasks of assigned ABL personnel to ensure that policies and deadlines are met
- Assisting the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and SCDOR departments with implementing changes to ensure improved operations to include implementing guidelines and procedures necessitated because of new legislative mandates and new job tasks assigned by departmental directive
- Ensures multi-departmental compliance with new laws and policies by coordinating with division managers and SLED, advising senior management on impacts to other divisions, and supporting internal teams with interpretations of ABL laws and policies
- Developing and assisting in training programs for the ABL section and other SCDOR personnel
- Assisting license applicants and holders, state agencies, and the public concerning the license application process, data, and requirements
- Monitoring ABL revocation procedures
- Administering the collection of filing fees, violations, and revocations
- Preparing orders of cancellations, suspensions, and revocations on failure to respond to ABL legal notices and determining the proper law to apply to these orders
Examples of duties
Either:
- A bachelor’s degree OR
- A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services
Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Qualifications
- Four years of relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services
- Knowledge of the ABL Code of Laws, regulations, and policies
- The ability to supervise and motivate employees working with technical data in an area of high public interest

- Hours: Work hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
- Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week after one year of employment with SCDOR.
