Job Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Transplant Surgery, is searching for full-time faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor. These positions are oriented toward a practice with primary focus in liver transplantation and experimental and clinical organ perfusion. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications.

The Transplant Institute has nationally recognized research and education programs that build on collaborations throughout the University and is active in clinical operations and quality improvement in the Medical Center.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or eligible by the American Board of Surgery or the foreign equivalent, and 4) have successfully completed a transplant fellowship program or equivalent.

We especially welcome applicants with additional background in living donor liver transplantation, pediatric transplantation, and hepatobiliary surgery. Additionally, we welcome candidates with strong translational research backgrounds and high potential to achieve independent funding.
