We are seeking a highly analytical and technically proficient Ab Initio Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a deep background in the Financial Services sector. Unlike a standard developer, this role requires a "translator"—someone who doesn't just build graphs but understands the complex business logic, regulatory requirements, and data lineage inherent in banking and capital markets. You will act as the bridge between technical execution and strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilitie

  • Solution Architecture & Interpretation: Analyze existing Ab Initio environments to interpret complex data flows. You must be able to explain why a specific transformation exists in the context of financial business rules (e.g., AML, KYC, or Basel III compliance).
  • Technical Translation: Translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical specifications for offshore or junior development teams, ensuring the "spirit" of the business intent is preserved in the code.
  • Performance Optimization: Conduct deep-dive analysis of GDE graphs, EME metadata, and Control Center executions to identify bottlenecks and improve processing efficiency for high-volume financial datasets.
  • Data Governance & Lineage: Leverage Ab Initio’s Metadata Hub to ensure full end-to-end data lineage, providing transparency for audit and regulatory reporting.
  • Mentorship & Best Practices: Establish and enforce enterprise-standard patterns for reusable components, error handling, and data quality frameworks.

Required Experience & Skills
The "Translator" Skill Set

  • Business Acumen: Minimum 7+ years of experience in Financial Services (Retail Banking, Investment Banking, or Insurance).
  • Conceptual Mapping: Ability to look at an Ab Initio graph and explain the underlying financial accounting or risk management logic to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Proven track record of deconstructing legacy "black box" systems and documenting their functional logic.

Technical Expertise

  • Core Ab Initio: Mastery of GDE, Co-Operating System, EME, and Control Center.
  • Advanced Components: Extensive experience with Continuous Flows, ICFF, and the Meta-Programming framework.
  • Data Environments: Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale data warehouses (Snowflake, Teradata, or Oracle).
  • Unix/Linux: Advanced shell scripting (KSH/Bash) for job automation and environment management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Ab Initio Acquire It or Query>It.
  • Knowledge of cloud migration strategies (moving Ab Initio workloads to AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Understanding of financial messaging standards (e.g., SWIFT, ISO 20022).
