AAHC Real Estate Development and Planning Specialist

Salary: $62,000 - $74,000 (salary will be commensurate with experience)

Role Summary:

Performs a variety of development and capital project work of the AAHC including research, due diligence and creation of documents related to development such as property acquisition, planning, zoning, brownfield and other grant applications; prepares written project analyses and makes written recommendations; reviews and understands relevant city, state and federal ordinances, codes, laws, programs, etc.; conducts site inspections of existing and planned facilities; assists the Director of Housing and Economic Development, Construction Project Manager and various AAHC consultants as required and performs related work as required.

Education, Training and Experience Required at Entry:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Business, Real Estate, Public Administration or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of research experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in planning, zoning, business finance, and/or real estate.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing analytical and organizational skills.
  • The City of Ann Arbor will consider an alternative combination of education and work experience

Education, Training and Experience Preferred at Entry:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Real Estate, Planning, Architecture, Engineering or Public Administration or a closely related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • 2–5 years of experience in planning, zoning, business/finance, asset management, and/or real estate.
  • 2 years of financial modeling and analysis experience.
  • 1 year of experience working with boards and/or commissions.
  • 2 years of data management experience.
