? Assist with supervision of all phases of the basketball program--planning, strategy, instruction in fundamentals, and so forth.
? Responsible for care and issuance of all basketball equipment used by the team.
? Communicate with high school coaching staff(s) and attend meetings or mini clinics at high school(s) to ensure continuity in the DCSD 7-12 grade boys' basketball program.
? Understand, monitor, and enforce district academic standards, policies, and eligibility requirements.
? Develop players to their fullest potential, starting with the basic fundamentals of the game of basketball and progressing to skills beyond what is considered average.
? Understand and promote good sportsmanship among student-athletes.
? Complete required reports and record accurately and in a timely manner.
? Has a thorough knowledge of and responsible for the athletic policy approved by the Board of Education.
? Supervise players at all practices and games, as well as in the locker room and on the bus.
? Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understand intermediate-aged youth in an athletic setting.
? Work in cooperation with the building Activity Director and with the Director of Athletics for the Davenport Community Schools.
? Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
? Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
? Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.

School District with main offices in Davenport, Iowa. The DCSD serves students in Blue Grass, Buffalo, Davenport, and Walcott, Iowa. There are 32 schools in the district: 3 high schools, 6 intermediate schools, 17 elementary schools, and 6 locations for preschool and alternative education. The DCSD is considered an urban school district. Approximately 1,286 teachers serve approximately 15,305 students.
Founded in 1858 it established one of the first publicly funded high schools in the United States, the third teachers’ training school and hired the first female superintendent in the country.
