REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Principal

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in education.
Possess a valid, current elementary Michigan teaching certificate with EX 6-8 endorsement or secondary certificate with EX 6-12 endorsement.
Desire familiarity and/or experience with Open Education philosophy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach district approved curriculum.
Develop lessons and instructional material to provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil.
Adapt curriculum for a multiage classroom to engage students in learning that builds on individual needs and interests,
Work collaboratively with parents, students, and staff.
Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep appropriate records and prepare progress report.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form

REASONING ABILITY
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
