GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

In this challenging role, you will be supporting the CEED - Cont Edu and Econ Dev department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.

I. Teaching

A. Preparation

  1. Review and discuss the objectives to be used in the course with Program Director
  2. Request supplies and equipment necessary for instruction
  3. Teach according to guidelines set within syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment tools, as well with program director, which will be consistent with curriculum requirements of National Credentialing Boards.

B. Management

  1. Establish an environment conducive to learning
  2. Maintain and encourage safe learning and working conditions
  3. Begin and end class on time
  4. Maintain records of attendance and grades according to state and college regulations
  5. Submit grades to program director in a timely manner
  6. Meet required deadlines with reasonable notifications in advance (e.g., class rosters, evaluations, etc.)
  7. Relay information to students as needed
  8. Identify “at risk” students and discuss options with Program Director
  9. Serve as academic advisor to students and participate in student recruitment and development
  10. Work alongside and/or assist other adjunct faculty as needed
  11. Provide Employment Outlook for graduate students
  12. Maintain general communication with Program Director regarding time management and work schedule.

II. Clinical Placement and Follow Up

  1. Individualize clinical assignment to meet both student and clinical site needs
  2. Complete/assist with comprehensive clinical site documents for placement and student competency evaluation
  3. Perform ongoing communication with students’ preceptor regarding students’ clinical performance
  4. Procure new clinical sites as needed for student placement
  5. Conduct clinical site visits to assess and evaluate student performance, as needed

III. Professional Development

Participate in professional development activities to improve teaching competence and to stay current in discipline. Serve on college committees and participate in the community activities to promote the College.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of one or more (1+) years of related phlebotomy experience
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining higher education, especially teaching methodologies.
  • Knowledge of standard accepted protocol for areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of students.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with alumni, businesses, students, media, faculty, legislators
  • Ability to interpret and apply all related laws.
  • Experience in both administrative and clinical areas
  • High quality computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more (2+) years of experience in Phlebotomy • National Certification in American Society for Clinical Pathology - Phlebotomy • Working knowledge of program management in health care classes • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment/discretion/handle problems in a professional manner. • Ability to work with minimal supervision in coordination of classes, lecture, assessment, lab practices and clinical sites. • Demonstrate ability to plan for future needs as well as lead/support lab instruction • 2 or more years of adult instructional experience
