Job Description

TITLE: Extrusion Technician B

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To effectively operate compounding extrusion lines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-year minimum extrusion/plant production experience.
• Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
• Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Promote safe use of equipment, adhere to plant safety rules, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written directions.
• Keep necessary and accurate records to submit on a timely basis.
• Understand and troubleshoot feeding, extrusion, and pelletizing problems.
• Set machine to produce maximum output and efficiency per standard operating conditions.
• Be alert to changes or irregularities in extrusion process.
• Alert shift lead and management to changes or irregularities in process.
• Perform accurate testing of finished product, and maintain constant exchange of information with quality control to inform them of changes in process or quality.
• Inspect finished product for quality problems and take corrective action.
• Maintain safe and organized production area.
• Operate and maintain forklift and all tools used in production area.
• Organize and segregate recyclable material, minimize waste.
• Perform additional tasks as defined by shift lead and production management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:
• Manufacturing Environment
• Ability to work in varying temperatures (cold and hot)
• Loud noise
• Dusty, Dirty environment.
• Subject to hazards of moving machinery.
• Subject to possible exposure to chemicals, gases and high heat.

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:
• Ability to assess quality of product through testing and examination.
• Understand correct measures to overcome process upsets and execute with moderate oversight.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:
• Forklift, hand tools, power tools
• Twin screw extruder, Pelletizing equipment, Pellet and powder transfer systems, overhead crane.
• Lab testing equipment such as melt flow indexer, moisture analyzer, microwave furnace, scales, calculator.
• Computer data entry

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
• Able to lift and load 25KG bags of material into hoppers.
• Able to climb multiple flights of stairs throughout the shift to access upper areas of production line.
• Able to stand/walk/work- standing for 12 hours/shift
• Bending, crouching, climb ladders.
• Occasional overhead work with cranes,
• precise control for pressing buttons/controls.
• Exposure to extreme heat and cold, indoors.

VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
• Machine operation, inspection, fine print on computer screen.
