Job Description

This position is for a full-time foreign language teacher at the Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico 6-12 Campus.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Education or related field

2. Valid Illinois teaching certificate

3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports To: Building Principal

Job Goal: To create a dynamic learning environment that promotes student engagement, academic growth, and social development. Provide effective instruction and assessment based on the district curriculum and educational standards.

Performance Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership:

  • Plan and deliver lessons that align with district curriculum and educational standards.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student learning and well-being.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles.

  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to meet individual needs.

  • Promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning.

  • Integrate technology and other innovative tools to enhance instruction.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement instructional strategies.

Student Development:

  • Foster a supportive and respectful classroom culture that encourages student participation and collaboration.

  • Set clear expectations for behavior and academic performance.

  • Provide guidance and support to students as needed.

  • Encourage student engagement and active participation in class activities.

  • Recognize and celebrate student achievements.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments to gauge student understanding and progress.

  • Analyze assessment results to inform instructional planning and differentiation.

  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their work.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and classroom activities.

  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school events.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities.

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.

Professional Growth:

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in education.

  • Reflect on teaching practices and seek opportunities for improvement.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and program evaluation.

  • Actively participate in school improvement initiatives.

Terms of Employment: 180 days, as determined by the school calendar. Salary and benefits in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by Building Administration.
