Job Description

Monsignor Slade Catholic School, a Catholic PreK-2 through Grade 8 school in Glen Burnie, Maryland, is seeking a passionate and student-centered 5th Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This individual will teach English Language Arts (ELA) and Religion. Rooted in the Catholic faith, our school is committed to forming the whole child academically, socially, and spiritually while serving a diverse community of students. The ideal candidate will foster a love of learning in both ELA and Religion while upholding the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.

Essential Functions

• Provides grade-appropriate instructional programs for students that align with the school’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
• Develops lesson plans with clear objectives that are aligned with the Archdiocesan curriculum.
• Observes and assesses student progress, maintains detailed records of student behavior and academic performance, and communicates progress with parents.
• Maintains an accurate and up-to-date gradebook at all times.
• Communicates with parents and colleagues in a clear, professional, and timely manner.
• Supports the mission of the school and the Catholic Church through instructional practices.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, English, History, Theology, or a related field preferred, but not required.
• Prior experience teaching or working with children preferred.
• Strong knowledge of children’s literature and literacy development.
• Demonstrated commitment to and respect for the mission and values of Catholic education.

Pay Range: $49,000 – 65,000, Annualized
