SITE PROJECT MANAGER – LAND CABLE CIVILS

Location: On-Site

Your Role

As a Site Project Manager – Land Cable Civils, you’ll be a
key point of contact for the IDT – Construction team, providing on-site
leadership, project coordination and contract management support for the
delivery of the Land Cable Civils (LCC) package.

You’ll:

  • Support the Construction
    Manager in delivering the LCC package, ensuring scope, schedule, budget,
    risk and resource requirements are effectively managed.
  • Act as Marinus Link’s
    primary on-site representative for LCC works, coordinating contractors,
    stakeholders, landowners and internal project teams.
  • Oversee contractor
    performance and ensure compliance with approved methodologies, safety
    standards, environmental requirements, quality obligations and project
    governance frameworks.
  • Manage project plans,
    budgets, risk registers and interface activities across the LCC delivery
    lifecycle.
  • Assess progress claims,
    variations, extensions of time (EOTs), early warnings and contractor
    claims in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections,
    audits, safety walks, testing and quality assurance activities to support
    successful project delivery.
  • Maintain effective
    document control and project administration including management of
    drawings, RFIs, NCRs and project correspondence.
  • Collaborate with internal
    workstreams including Engineering, Land Access and Acquisition,
    Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Scheduling and Stakeholder Engagement
    teams.
  • Prepare project reports,
    presentations and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and support up to 3
    Site Project Engineers while fostering strong teamwork and communication
    across the project.
  • Promote a proactive
    safety-first culture and support continuous improvement across site
    activities.

You’ll Need

  • Extensive experience
    (15–20 years) working on large-scale civil infrastructure projects with
    multiple contractor interfaces, particularly from the client or owner
    side.
  • Strong knowledge of
    health, safety and environmental legislation, standards and best practices
    within major construction environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in
    project delivery, contractor management, contract administration and
    interface coordination.
  • Practical experience
    managing Design and Construct (D&C) contracts, variations, claims and
    commercial project outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder
    engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence and
    collaborate across diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work
    autonomously, lead teams and manage competing priorities within complex
    project environments.
  • Strong problem-solving
    skills with the ability to manage ambiguity and adapt to changing project
    requirements.
  • Strong customer focus with
    a sound understanding of commercial drivers.
  • Tertiary qualifications in
    Engineering or a related discipline are desirable.
  • Project Management
    certifications such as AIPM, PMI or PRINCE2 are desirable but not
    essential.
  • A practical civil
    construction background with progression into project management
    responsibilities is highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft
    Office Suite including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • A high level of computer
    literacy.

This role is based at Marinus Link’s Hazelwood site office.

About Marinus Link

Marinus Link is a new undersea and underground electricity and data interconnector between North West Tasmania and the Latrobe Valley in Victoria.

The two-way energy highway will enable Tasmania and Victoria to share much more electricity, pairing Victoria’s wind and solar with Tasmania’s flexible hydropower system and geographically diverse wind. This is a powerful synergy that strengthens the grid for both states.

Marinus Link's fibre optic cables will improve digital connectivity between Tasmania and Victoria by 150 times.

Marinus Link Pty Ltd (MLPL) is jointly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of Tasmania and the State of Victoria. MLPL is responsible for progressing the Marinus Link interconnector project.
