TITLE: 4th Grade Teacher - Reiche Community School

Reiche Community School is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and creative 4th grade teacher to join our team. We are looking for teachers who have a passion for working with children, brings an equity-oriented approach to their instruction, and who hold all students to high expectations. Strong candidates will have experience in conducting rigorous inquiry-based instruction across content areas. We are seeking teammates who are collaborative and open to giving and receiving feedback in service of the shared goals of the school and the district. Candidates who speak a second language are encouraged to apply.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
  • Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
  • Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university
  • Additional combinations of applicable education, training, and experience are welcome
  • Portland Public Schools values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maine State Teacher Certificate with General Elementary Endorsement, K-6 or K-8 (020)
  • Maine State CHRC authorization (more info) **
    • **if you already have an active teacher certification, you do not need a separate CHRC as this clearance is tied to your teacher certification

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:

  • Schedule: School year, Full Time, 1.0 FTE
  • Assignment: Permanent
  • Reports to: Teacher Leaders
  • Contract: Part of the PEA union (see 2025-2028 CBA here)
  • Salary Based on education and experience per CBA
