
The mission of Hidden Valley 4-H Camp is to provide youth with a fun, residential camp experience under the guidance of positive role models that emphasize camp community building, positive social interactions, environmental awareness, and skill building.
The 4-H Arts Specialist is responsible for planning and leading arts and crafts programs, ordering and inventorying art supplies in concert with the Assistant Director. The 4-H Arts Specialist will live on Camp and serve as a cabin counselor for the summer camp season.
Duration
The summer camp season includes one Senior Staff week beginning June 22rd, one week of mandatory staff training from June 28th through July 5th (alumni hands on training weekend is 7/3-7/5), and five full weeks and one partial week of residential and day camp running from Sunday at 11:00 AM to Friday at 6:00 PM. The specific dates the Camp is in operation are July 7th through August 11th. The Arts Specialist will remain on Camp until August 14th to assist in closing the camp facility and oversee the proper storage, inventory and storage of art supplies.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop and implement 4-H arts programming, including photography and other digital media geared to camp ages, interests, and abilities
Use recommended HV 4-H Camp Curriculum and Project Planning templates as a guide
Coordinate and incorporate music and drama elements into the weekly Arts camp offerings
Supervise campers at the Arts & Crafts building
Manage camp art budget, order, and oversee inventory of art supplies
Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the arts and crafts program area
Serve as a positive role model in language, appearance, and behavior
Participate and provide leadership in all camp programs
Support and embrace diversity in all interactions with campers, other staff members, volunteers, and parents. Implement programs that engage diverse backgrounds, interests, and learning styles
Other duties will be assigned as required
Qualifications
18 years of age or older
Experience as a camper or working with children
Ability to supervise and organize youth and young adults
Ability to communicate effectively with the Assistant Camp Director, work as part of the team at Hidden Valley 4-H Camp, and with campers and camp families
Incorporates Teamwork and Flexibility into their daily work style
Ability to plan and lead programs
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full time, (TEMPORARY) exempt position.
Salary and Benefit Details
The rate of pay will be $2250.00. (Rate will be reduced for any time scheduled but not worked during the period) The pay rate is commensurate with experience, certifications, responsibilities, and availability. Benefits are not available for this position.
