NCSY, a program of the Orthodox Union, connects with Jewish teens through innovative,cutting-edgesocial and recreational programs to develop a positive Jewish identity. NCSY inspires Jewish teens through informal Jewish education,retreatsand summer programs. NCSY empowers teens through leadership development and guidance to become passionately committed leaders of the Jewish community and instruments for positive change and renewal.

The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OUmaintainsa kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol,, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

The 4G Coordinator serves as a role model to the religious Jewish teens within the St Louis community. This role provides informal Jewish education to teens, designed to connect,inspire, and ultimately empower them to become well-rounded Jewish young adults. The 4G Coordinator will be involved with the communities and synagogues in the area, as one of the liaisons for NCSY, building key relationships with community leaders and Balebatim.

4G in St Louis must be done with great sensitivity and nuance.This role will work closely with the City Director and theRov, who is helping to facilitate a successful launch, including acceptance of 4G in thebroader Jewish community.

This position will be 8 hours a week.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a year-long calendar of weekly activities, social events, and holiday programming for girls’ schools.Minimum expectations include 2-3 Shabbos/holiday (Friday night dinner, Oneg, lunch, Shalosh Seudos,MelavaMalka) programs and 1 learning program.
  • Coordinate with the 4G staff for Chesterfield Shabbos/holiday programming
  • Set up 1-on-1 and small group Torah learning opportunities for local teens
  • Develop and foster a community of Jewish teens that have bought into the NCSY “culture,” including creating and empowering a teen board for 4G programming.
  • Spend at least one designated day a week working with the schools and meeting the girls in the area
  • Create and run a mini localshabbatonfor St Louis girls (can include girls from other cities if desired)
  • Attend weekly St Louis NCSY staffmeeting
  • Meet with City Director 2x per month
  • Enter relevant data for attendance at events
  • Help identify and connect potential donors to the City Director and help connect to Strategic community partners.
  • Create community awareness of the 4G program, including but not limited to PR, social media, and regular email communications.
  • Recruit for NCSY summer programs, as appropriate, with a specific focus onMichleletand GIVE
  • The 4G Coordinator will identify opportunities to continue relationships with teensfromsummerprograms:Michleletand GIVE.
