About the Client
A high-growth consumer products company operating a portfolio of brands across DTC, Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, and major retail channels. We operate an asset-light model — leveraging contract manufacturers and a global supplier network to bring innovative non-food CPG products to market.
- We don’t own factories, we own the strategy, the supplier relationships, and the results.
The Role
We are seeking a brand-side Purchasing Specialist to own the procurement of raw materials and packaging components for our non-food CPG brands (BugMD and HydroNova).
- This is not a warehouse or factory role, this is strategic procurement inside a consumer brand.
You will manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and payment terms, source and qualify new vendors, and ensure uninterrupted material flow aligned with production schedules and product launches.
- You will be fully accountable for cost control, supplier performance, and procurement readiness.
What You Will Own
1. Raw Material & Ingredient Procurement
- Source and purchase active ingredients, essential oils, chemicals, and specialty raw materials.
- Manage RFQs, competitive bidding, and supplier qualification.
- Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and payment terms.
- Protect gross margins through strategic sourcing.
2. Packaging Component Procurement
- Source and purchase bottles, tubes, corrugated, labels, pumps, caps, and related packaging materials.
- Ensure packaging meets quality specifications and production timelines.
- Manage print cycles and long lead-time items.
3. Supplier Management & Diversification
- Build supplier scorecards (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, pricing).
- Conduct performance reviews.
- Reduce single-source dependency across critical materials.
- Develop alternative sourcing strategies.
4. Cost Optimization
- Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives (target: ≥10% annualized savings).
- Optimize landed cost models in partnership with Finance.
- Consolidate vendors when strategic.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Align procurement timelines with demand planning and production schedules.
- Ensure 100% material readiness for NPI launches.
- Surface supply risks proactively in weekly operational reviews.
What Success Looks Like
First 90 Days
- Complete full spend analysis across raw materials and packaging.
- Implement supplier scorecards for top vendors.
- Identify and begin execution on at least 2 cost-saving initiatives.
- Align procurement calendar with production forecasts.
By 6 Months
- ≥97% on-time delivery from key suppliers.
- Zero stockouts due to procurement error.
- At least 3 new suppliers qualified.
- Measurable cost savings delivered vs. baseline.
By 12 Months
- ≥4 documented cost-saving initiatives implemented.
- <20% single-source dependency across spend.
- Fully documented supplier qualification and sourcing SOPs.
- Procurement running independently with full leadership confidence.
Requirements
What You Bring
Required Experience
- 5+ years in procurement, sourcing, or purchasing within a CPG or consumer products brand.
- Hands-on experience sourcing raw materials (ingredients, chemicals, actives) and/or packaging components.
- Demonstrated negotiation success with quantified cost savings.
- Experience managing supplier performance (scorecards, reviews, compliance tracking).
- ERP system experience (NetSuite preferred).
- Strong analytical skills (spend analysis, cost modeling, landed cost tracking).
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in personal care, household, pest control, or specialty chemical categories.
- Experience working with LATAM suppliers.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Experience in omnichannel CPG supply chains.
