Job Description

The Electrician will work in conjunction with the maintenance, production, and engineering departments. The primary job responsibility is to provide electrical support to the Tufting Department regarding equipment troubleshooting, electrical device installation, new equipment installation, and developing and implementing equipment process improvements through the use of technology and automation.

  • Repair electrical problems for industrial carpet manufacturing process

  • Installation of electrical conduit and wiring, along with designing electrical circuits and estimating costs.

  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting of equipment and/or processes through the effective use of electrical theory, meters, equipment manuals and schematics, and any other resource(s) available.

  • Troubleshoot motors, controllers, and advanced motor controls, such as VFD’s, technical sensors, lasers, and situation monitors.

  • Assist the maintenance staff in operational debugging of machine controllers, motors, motor controls, sensors, and all other related components in a timely and efficient manner utilizing Tarkett standard techniques and approach.

  • Communicate with the project “team” to ensure a constant level of project awareness.

  • Collaborate with the controls engineer and/or controls technician, who is responsible for ensuring all schematics and/or backup programs of PLC’s, HMI, camera systems, etc, are kept current and correct.

  • Other duties as directed by the supervisor.

NEEDED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 5 – 7 years related experience and/or technical training in Electrical Troubleshooting, Basic Electricity, motors, VFD’s, and motor controls; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is a plus, but not required. May be required for advancement to Controls Technician.

  • Must be trained in and accountable for lock-out / tag-out policies and procedures.

  • Must be a self-starter and team player capable of multitasking and prioritizing projects.

  • Ability to work without direct supervision.

  • Ability to initiate and install suggestions for upgrading electrical components and improving manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, electrical schematics, short correspondence, and memos

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

  • Ability to calculate electrical ratios, in addition to figures and amounts such as proportions, ratios, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hand and eye coordination, use hand/air/electrical power tools, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and listen.

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
