Provides direct floor leadership for assigned shift; partners with Production Manager to drive safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Oversees daily shift operations, employee performance management (PPA), training, and troubleshooting to ensure operational excellence.
Leadership & People Management
Directly supervises 10–15 full-time hourly employees and up to 5 contract employees
Coaches, develops, and motivates teams to maximize performance and morale.
Administers Performance Planning & Administration (PPA) and corrective actions in partnership with HR.
Leads hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and training for new employees.
Serves on and contributes to plant committees (Safety, Quality, 5S, Housekeeping).
Acts as facility lead in the absence of the Production Manager.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
Drives continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, and productivity.
Utilizes problem-solving methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) to resolve production and quality issues.
Ensures adherence to batch sheets, SOPs, quality systems, and safety standards.
Coordinates with Maintenance to minimize downtime and support proactive asset management.
Partners with Scheduler to execute production plans and meet customer requirements.
Ensures accurate production and inventory reporting and effective shift-to-shift communication.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Promotes a safe, clean, and collaborative work environment.
Leads safety training, compliance efforts, and workplace organization (5S).
Investigates root causes of quality issues and drives corrective actions.
Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and internal quality programs.
Financial & Business Impact
Manages staffing levels to optimize labor efficiency and minimize manufacturing costs.
Reduces yield loss, scrap, and batch adjustments through process discipline.
Follows standard business practices to ensure transaction accuracy.
No direct budget ownership, role has significant impact on operational performance.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
5+ years production experience, including 2+ years supervisory experience
Strong communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Proven collaborator with strong work ethic and accountability mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
Post-secondary education or 4-year degree (Engineering, Chemistry, Manufacturing, Business, or related).
Forklift certified; First Aid/CPR certified.
Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience (Green/Black Belt preferred).
Proficiency in OSHA regulations and 5S methodologies.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $86,000 - $113,000.
