Job Description

Qualifications:
1. Must be able to read, comprehend, and carry out or re-communicate verbally the direction of your supervisor.
2. Must not be allergic to chemicals.
3. Must be capable of acquiring a license for all types of jacks and lifts.
4. Must be able to work in wet, hot and cold environments

Primary Responsibilities
1. Responsible for completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.
2. Responsible for breakdown or disassembly of equipment and reassembling equipment.
3. Responsible for performing sanitation procedures on all equipment in assigned area.
4. Responsible for cleaning equipment using hazardous chemicals, at the correct solution strength setup by our chemical supplier to adequately clean the equipment and prevent any injury to personnel, or damage to equipment due to improper chemical use.
5. Responsible for cleaning equipment required by Land O'Frost, Inc. Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP).
6. Responsible for reporting any inadequacies or damage found to equipment to supervisor.
7. Responsible for performing pre –operational inspection of equipment in assigned area prior to crew leader’s inspection.
8. Responsible for responding to any USDA sanitation related request.
9. Responsible for working as a team member with co-workers to achieve the overall sanitation objectives of the plant.
10. Responsible for taking and passing chemical training.
11. Responsible for taking and passing Lockout/Tagout course for authorized level.
12. Responsible for taking and understanding HAZMAT and HAZCOM Training.
13. Responsible for Food Safety when documenting results for SSOP, HACCP or other pre-requisite programs.
14. Responsible for adhering to all food safety, quality and GMP procedures specific to this position

Secondary Responsibilities
1. Capable of performing a regular sanitation technician’s duty in assigned area.
2. Responsible for learning breakdown and cleaning procedures of new equipment brought into a department.
3. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized sanitation chemical equipment storage room.
4. Assist in monitoring and cleaning if needed sanitation of non-production areas of the plant.
5. Assist in the monitoring of production and sanitation equipment during its operation or handling, to help keep in proper working order.
6. Perform, or assist in swabbing equipment in proper methods to obtain microbial or bacterial information.
7. Packaging responsibilities:
a. Properly set film registration on Multivac's and run pre-flight set-up verification before startup of 1st shift production.
8. Cookroom
a. Set-up T-Sizers and Riscos.
b. Provide supplies for 1st shift production; i.e. ingredients, clips, casings, etc.
9. Formulation
a. Insert mixer lid seals.
b. Insert grinder augers.
c. Insert comitrol augers
d. Grease comvair plates.
Physical Requirements:
1. Able to work in variable temperatures of between 30 and 120 degrees on same shift.
2. Work in wet environment 100% of shift.
3. Work with Dairy or boosted pressure hoses operating from 60 to 175 pounds of pressure for 50% of shift.
4. Lift up to 60 pounds frequently
5. Bend; stoop squat push, pull, and turning 50% of shift.
6. Stand 50%, walk, 30%, and climb ladders 10% of shift.
7. Must have vision of, or correctable to, 20/20

Equipment:
1. Various sizes and types of wrenches.
2. Manual or hand pallet jack, riding forklift, battery operated pallet jack, battery operated scissor lift, roll around highjacker, and ladders.
3. High pressure wash down hose, chemical foamers, chemical flood sanitizer station, and chemical titration test kits, (check for proper sanitizer solution concentrations).
4. Rain suits, rubber boots, rubber gloves steel glove, sleeves, chemical mask or hood, and any other personal protective equipment required for your protection by LOF for specific or routine sanitation cleaning applications.
5. Flashlight.
