Job Description

DutiesandResponsibilities

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for

  • Support production by minimizing equipment downtime, providing prompt response times.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance as well as planned repairs of production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Perform minor tasks on electrical components such as sensors, fuses, breakers, etc.
  • Ability to work on projects both individually and with a cross-functional team.
  • Follow safety policies and practices while maintaining Wabash’s Leadership Principles and Values
  • The Maintenance Trainee position is expected to work full shifts, which may be 8, 10, or 12 hours per day, depending on the plant’s needs.
  • Work schedule includes mandatory overtime and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as needed or required

Qualifications:

  • Must complete 3 Wabash specified courses through Ivy Tech (Mechanical I, Electrical I, and Fluid Power I)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Basic reading, writing, & verbal skills
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tools (power and hand)
  • Experience using SAP and SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) is a plus

Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

Maintenance Technician experience and education are great to come into this position with However, it’s not required, here at Wabash, we give you access to schooling and training to become comfortable in any Maintenance Technician position.

Physical Demands

As a Maintenance Trainee, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and operate tools or controls for the length of their entire shift. The employee needs full range of motion in their arms and hands in this position. All Maintenance Trainees must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well. Some Maintenance Trainees also work in small spaces throughout their shift and frequently lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
