Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM

Pay: $36.70 - $41.25/hour

HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE…

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will play a critical role in keeping our highly automated bakery operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably. Your expertise in mechanical systems, controls, fabrication, troubleshooting, and equipment reliability will help maximize production uptime and support continuous improvement efforts. In this role, you will also serve as a technical resource and mentor, helping develop less experienced mechanics while ensuring our equipment operates at peak performance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO…

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and maintain automated bakery production equipment and facility systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical equipment issues.
  • Respond to production line calls and complete corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
  • Execute preventive maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and performance.
  • Effectively manage and prioritize multiple maintenance assignments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Utilize maintenance inventory systems and shop computer terminals to locate, order, and track repair parts.

Technical & Mechanical Expertise

  • Apply advanced knowledge of:
  • Industrial mechanical systems
  • Industrial piping systems
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Electrical systems
  • Electromechanical equipment
  • Read and interpret:
  • Mechanical schematics
  • Electrical drawings
  • Technical manuals
  • Equipment documentation
  • Diagnose machine control issues using PLCs and other automated control system components.
  • Utilize precision measurement and testing equipment, including:
  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Electrical testing devices
  • Tape measures
  • Combination squares
  • Safely operate machine shop equipment, including lathes and milling machines.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor, train, and support Zone 2 and Zone 3 Mechanics.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with maintenance team members.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, and Production Teams to resolve equipment issues.
  • Provide technical guidance during troubleshooting and equipment repair activities.

Safety, Quality & Food Safety

  • Follow all safety procedures and make safety a top priority in all work activities.
  • Comply with:
  • OSHA requirements
  • EPA regulations
  • Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
  • Plant safety standards
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance activities meet quality and food safety standards.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate on plant teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support focused improvement, reliability, and safety teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance processes.
  • Assist in developing proactive solutions to recurring equipment challenges.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support overtime and weekend coverage as business needs require.

You will serve as an important technical resource supporting both maintenance and production operations.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE… (MUST HAVE)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Trade school diploma/certificate or Associate Degree in a maintenance, industrial technology, mechanical, electrical, or related field.
  • Eight (8) or more years of industrial maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting automated production equipment and electromechanical systems.
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment and machine control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Mechanical systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Industrial piping
  • Welding
  • Fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and electrical testing equipment.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, machine shop equipment, and maintenance technologies.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in elevated locations, varying temperatures, and dusty production environments.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended shifts as required.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE… (NICE TO HAVE)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience in bakery, food manufacturing, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environments.
  • Advanced PLC troubleshooting and automation experience.
  • Experience mentoring and developing maintenance technicians.
  • Experience with SAP or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Advanced welding and fabrication skills.
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and equipment reliability programs.
  • Experience supporting highly automated manufacturing operations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Automated bakery manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment and production machinery.
  • Work in varying temperatures, elevated locations, and ingredient dust environments.
  • Possibility of slippery surfaces in production areas.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, climbing, bending, reaching, and material handling.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Moderate noise levels with required use of appropriate PPE.
  • Scheduled 8-12 hour shifts with overtime and weekend work required as needed.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
