Jardeg is recruiting Welder Apprentices to join our maintenance team at Suncor Fort Hills. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on industrial maintenance experience while working alongside skilled Journeyperson Welders in one of Canada's leading oil sands operations. This is a 7 on 7 off (Days and Nights) position. it is temporary to start immediately until End of December. Camp accommodations and charter flights (from Calgary or Edmonton) are provided by the company.

Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders, clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch and weld parts together.

Responsibilities

• Assist Journeyperson Welders with maintenance, repair, and fabrication activities.
• Support welding, grinding, fitting, and material preparation tasks.
• Read and interpret basic drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
• Follow established welding procedures and quality requirements.
• Adhere to all company, client, and site-specific safety policies.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programs.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and developing trade skills.

Qualifications

• Registered Welder Apprentice (3rd, or 4th Year).
• Valid apprenticeship documentation.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to successfully meet site access requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Welder Apprentice Certification
• Energy Safety Canada Approved Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or BSO
• Energy Safety Canada Approved Aerial Work Platform
• Energy Safety Canada Approved Fall Arrest or Fall Protection
• Energy Safety Canada Approved Confined Space
• WHMIS 2015
• Overhead Crane
• Basic Rigging
• Class 5 Driver License and a clean three-year Drivers Abstract
• Mask Fit Test
• Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
