The Third Officer acts as the designated officer for lifesaving (LSA) and firefighting (FFA) appliances, ensuring all safety equipment, including lifeboats and extinguishers, remains in a constant state of readiness per SOLAS requirements. Reporting to the Master and Chief Officer, this role involves keeping a safe navigational watch, managing mooring parties, and handling the accurate preparation of vessel documentation for port arrivals and departures. The officer also maintains critical visual and sound signaling apparatus, such as flags, lights, and halyards.
