Job Description

Your Opportunity to SHINE ON:

At the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, we believe that belonging is the heart of potential, and for more than 130 years, Camp Stephens—owned and operated by the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg—has brought this belief to life through exceptional overnight camp experiences on its island site in the heart of Lake of the Woods, near Kenora, Ontario. Guided by The Y Way and our commitment to Shine On Experiences, Camp Stephens fosters a culture where safety, inclusion, growth, and community are embedded in everything we do.

As the 3-Week Quatros Coordinator, you will lead and implement the 3-Week Quatros Program, guiding young adults through immersive leadership training, wilderness canoe trips, and experiential learning opportunities. You will oversee program design, facilitate skill-building activities, mentor participants, and ensure high-quality, safe, and engaging leadership programming. Your work will create meaningful experiences that foster confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a lifelong connection to leadership and the outdoors.

WHY you’ll love Camp Stephens:

Working at Camp Stephens means being part of a values-driven, people-first culture grounded in inclusiveness, well-being, sustainability, and inspiration. You will live and work in a unique wilderness environment, build strong relationships with campers and peers, and contribute to life-changing outdoor experiences while being supported by a passionate leadership team that values belonging, learning, and personal growth.

HOW you’ll create Moments that Matter:

You will provide mentorship and leadership to Quatros participants and staff, foster a supportive and inclusive program environment, and guide participants through wilderness expeditions and experiential learning. You will plan and deliver structured leadership programming, manage program logistics, and maintain participant records and documentation. You will also complete incident reports as needed, contribute to camp-wide programs, and prepare end-of-season reports summarizing participant progress and recommendations for future program development.

You’ll bring:

  • Previous leadership or outdoor programming experience, ideally in a camp or experiential learning setting
  • Wilderness trip leadership experience, including canoe tripping, navigation, and risk management
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to mentor young adults and foster leadership growth
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate leadership programming while adapting to participants’ needs
  • Physical stamina and comfort working in remote, outdoor, and wilderness environments
  • Willingness to complete the Y Winnipeg Camp Stephens Training Pathway (paid training provided if required)
  • Required certifications: Bronze Cross (Bronze Medallion prerequisite assumed), Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C

How Y Winnipeg Supports Your Impact:

  • Compensation: $58.33 - $68.33 per day
  • Professional Development: Paid training and certification opportunities; applicants who do not yet have all required certifications are encouraged to apply, as training and support may be available
  • On-site Accommodation: Includes board and lodging while on trip
  • Wellness: Complimentary Y membership and access to Employee Assistance Program
  • A supportive, mission-driven environment where your leadership and contributions are valued
